AngioKine™ is a novel sustained release implant which delivers drugs that specifically target the inflammatory pathways involved in Degenerative Eye Diseases such as Dry and Wet Macular Degeneration (AMD), Diabetic Retinopathy and Diabetic Macular Edema. AngioKine™ delivers targeted local antagonists of the specific disease processes inside the Blood Eye Barrier (BEB) and directly into the eye. AngioKine™ will eliminate the side effects of frequent injections or risky laser procedures.
TheraKine believes that AngioKine™ will stop neovascularization—the growth of new, weak blood vessels that form during diseases such as Diabetic Retinopathy. AngioKine™ will also inhibit the inflammatory pathways involved in Diabetic Retinopathy, Macular Degeneration, and Macular Edema. If successful, AngioKine™, like OptiKine™, will last for several months with only one injection.
TheraKine believes that there is good evidence that AngioKine™ will be able to treat the previously untreatable Dry Macular Degeneration.
AngioKine™ is still in the early stages of research and development.
